Everything You Need to Know About Call of Duty®: Warzone

by Eva Wei 10 Mar 2020

The new Free-To-Play Battle Royale will be available to play starting March 10th, 2020.

Activision has revealed Call of Duty: Warzone, a new free-to-play battle royale game. Warzone will be available to download and play starting March 10th and is free for all players. Let’s take a look at everything you need to know.

Free-To-Play

Call of Duty’s official Twitter account confirmed that Warzone is free-to-play for everyone. You do not need to own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to play Warzone, however, there is a four-hour early access period if you do.

Large Battleground

The game takes place around the incredibly extensive map of Verdansk, which has several zones and over 300 points of interest. Warzone supports up to 150 players in a match, which is above the usual battle royale standard of 100 players. You won’t be alone in this fight, as you team up in squads of three, aka trios.

Two Game Modes

Warzone will deliver an online combat area featuring two game modes of play: Battle Royale and Plunder. There’s more information still to come about both game modes, however, Call of Duty’s official Twitter account teased Plunder’s theme, centered around “money is everything” and the team with the most cash wins.

Cross-Play

The battlefield just got bigger. Like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone has cross-play enabled across multiple platforms. These platforms include PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Call of Duty: Warzone will be available as a free download on March 10th. For players that own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the game will go live at 11 a.m. EST, while new players can start downloading at 3 p.m. EST.
